The FBR sources said that the pace of return filing had become slow after submission of supplementary finance bill before the parliament on September 18, 2018 under which the government proposed to withdraw condition on non-filers in purchasing immovable properties and registration of new and imported vehicles.

Move of the new government was harshly criticized by all the quarters terming it was injustice with the compliant taxpayers. The government after realizing the sentiments of stakeholders decided to withdraw from its proposal and submitted amended supplementary bill on October 03, 2018 before the parliament, which was passed by the house.
