FBR records 53pc increase in tax collection from salaried class

ISLAMABAD: There was a big increase of 53 percent in tax collection from salaried people in the seven months of the current fiscal year was recorded.

According to sources in Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), in the seven months of the current fiscal year, Rs284.22 billion was collected in the form of income tax on salary.

In the seven months of the previous fiscal year, income tax collection on salary was Rs185.50 billion.

In the seven months of the current fiscal year, compared to the seven months of the previous fiscal year, Rs99 billion more was collected from salaried people.

According to tax experts, a big increase in tax rates was made on salaried people in 2024-25.

Tax collection on salaried people also increased by 53 percent due to the increase in income tax rates, tax experts said.

They said the main reason for the increase in income tax collection on salary is strict supervision of withholding tax.

The FBR has increased the withholding tax beyond the limit crackdown on tax evasion has been launched, tax experts added.

FBR has identified discrepancies of Rs200 billion in withholding tax claims, tax experts

Annual income tax payments are also increasing and FBR has tightened the noose against tax evaders.
