SAHIWAL: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has recovered Rs. 4 million from popular fast-food chain Cheezious following an enforcement action carried out by the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Sahiwal over alleged discrepancies in sales reporting.

According to an official statement issued by the Revenue Division on May 30, 2026, the recovery was made under Section 175C of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, after FBR’s monitoring team reportedly identified a significant gap between the company’s declared sales and actual business activity.

As part of the enforcement exercise, a dedicated team from RTO Sahiwal was deployed at the business premises to monitor sales transactions and assess compliance with tax laws.

During the monitoring period, tax authorities allegedly observed substantial differences between reported turnover figures and on-ground sales volumes.

Based on these findings, enforcement proceedings were initiated, resulting in the recovery of Rs4 million, which has been deposited into the national exchequer.

However, Cheezious has disputed the allegations. Responding to media inquiries, company representatives stated that the matter stemmed from an error on FBR’s side and maintained that the claims were not entirely accurate. The company further stated that it is currently engaged in discussions with the tax authority to resolve the issue.

The RTO Sahiwal emphasized that it will continue strengthening enforcement measures to curb tax evasion and improve compliance across various sectors of the economy.

The Chief Commissioner of RTO Sahiwal commended the enforcement team’s efforts and reiterated the department’s commitment to protecting government revenues through effective monitoring and compliance initiatives.

FBR officials stated that the authority remains focused on promoting a documented economy, broadening the tax base, and taking strict action against practices that cause losses to the national treasury.
