ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has refused a proposal to place sales tax refund data on its website or publishing refund figures.

This was revealed during a meeting of the committee constituted by Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) to address the issues in delay of sales tax refunds. It was revealed in the meeting that current pendency of refunds is the same as was at the same point last year. Therefore, it is not correct to suggest that revenue growth is on account of withholding of refunds, the meeting told.
