FBR restricts sales of nine goods to unregistered shopkeepers

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) disallowed sales of nine goods to shopkeepers who are unregistered in the Sales Tax System with effective from July 1, 2018.

Sources told Customs Today that FBR has informed the manufacturers of the 9 goods including polypropylene granules, cigarette filter rods, chilling plants, air conditioning plants, medication plants, cranes, propane storage tanks, heat exchangers, gas separators that sales of these goods are prohibited to those shopkeepers who are unregistered in the “Sales Tax System”.

Sources said that the board has also warned the manufacturers of these nine items that if they are found in the sales of these items to unregistered shopkeepers they will not be facilitated with the sales tax refunds and input adjustment on the import or local procurement of material used in the manufacturing of these goods, sources added. Moreover, the board has issued notification in this regard which is effective from July 1, 2018.

Sources further said that the unregistered shopkeepers and traders will have to register their business in the Sales Tax System.
