FBR rolls out Google Career Certificate training for public sector officers

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced the launch of the Google Career Certificate (GCC) training program for its officers and officials. This significant initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of Information Technology & Telecommunication (MoITT), Google, and its local execution partner, Tech Valley, designed to enhance digital skills across the Federal Government.

In a circular issued by the Directorate General of IT & Digital Transformation at the FBR, dated May 26, 2025, it was highlighted that the Google Career Certificates are a suite of flexible online training programs accessible via Coursera.org. These certificates, developed and taught by Google experts, are specifically designed to equip learners from diverse backgrounds with job-ready skills within approximately four months, with the potential for quicker completion depending on dedicated study time.

IT Support (110 Hours)

Digital Marketing and E-commerce (190 Hours)

Advanced Data Analytics (260 Hours)

Data Analysis (180 Hours)

Prompting Essentials (9 Hours)

The Directorate General of IT & Digital Transformation has designated its SAtoDGIT&DT as the focal person for this program. Interested officers and officials within the FBR are encouraged to fill out a Google form to express their interest. Queries regarding the program can be forwarded to the designated email address.

The FBR emphasized the critical importance of participation in this training program, stating that it is “crucial in institutionalizing a digitally proficient workforce that is future-ready and citizen-centric.” This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the digital capabilities of its public sector employees, aligning with global trends of digital transformation in governance and service delivery.
