ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday sealed Saeed Book Bank, one of the largest and most renowned bookstores in the capital, over alleged tax evasion.
The enforcement action, led by Deputy Commissioner RTO Islamabad, Awais Ishaque, was initiated after the store reportedly failed to integrate its Point of Sale (POS) system with the FBR—a legal requirement under current tax regulations.
Officials stated that the move is part of the FBR’s nationwide crackdown on non-compliant businesses, particularly those accused of bypassing the mandatory digital monitoring of sales and tax collection.
Saeed Book Bank, a landmark for book lovers in Islamabad, is now under formal investigation for non-compliance with POS integration rules.
The FBR has recently stepped up efforts to tighten enforcement, stressing that POS integration is critical for real-time tracking of sales and ensuring accurate tax payments.
