FBR seeks lists of pending rebate claims from customs

SIALKOT: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed all Model Customs Collectorates to send lists of pending rebate claims within ten days to the headquarters.

Officials told Customs Today that the FBR has provided rebate to Sialkot base exporters pending since 2014, adding that the the Sialkot Customs issued cheques worth Rs 860 million to the exporters.

Some rebate claims of 2009, 2010 and 2011 are also pending because their documents were not completed, they said, adding that now documentation was completed now and the rebates will be issued to the exporters soon.

They also said that the department was also planning to settle the pending cases of 2015 in order to facilitate the exporters.

The officials said that the exporters sought clearance of rebate claims as soon as possible but there were different processes, which are required to be completed before the issuance of claims. In future, the department will try to clear the claims in time.
