FBR seeks nominations for scholarships of World Customs Organisation in Japan

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has sought nominations of the Customs officers who are willing to take part in a one year scholarship program being offered by the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Japan, commencing from March 2016 at Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo.

The World Customs Organisation will award a number of scholarships for the Master’s Degree program in Strategic Management and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) at the Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo, Japan. The funds for these scholarships will be provided by Japan Customs under the Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Program (Scholarship Program).

The Master’s Degree program comprises two segments; an academic segment and a practical segment. The academic segment starts with focused teaching of foundational skills in strategic management and IPR. It then moves to a range of applied topics which help scholars understand how to design, implement and evaluate public policies, in particular Customs policy, in accordance with development strategies for organizations. The practical segment is taught in cooperation with Japan Customs including the Japan Customs Training Institute.

The nominated applicant requests website access via online registration option on the AGU’s website http://www.aoyamasmiprp.ip/ which should be completed by 18th August, 2015 (no later then 17:00 Japan Standard Time JST).

The applicant must then complete the application form and submit with all the supporting documents by 25th August 2015 (no later then 23:59 JST) to the AGU Master’s Programme Admission Office address as indicated on the application web page.

In this regard, Secretary International Customs, Syed Asad Raza Rizvi has forwarded a letter No 4(29)ICM/2003 to the Director General, Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation-FBR Islamabad, Chief Collector-Central Custom House Lahore, Director General, Directorate General of Valuation, Customs House Karachi, Chief Collector-South Enforcement/Appraisement, Custom House Karachi, Director General Directorate General of Post Clearance Audit-FBR Islamabad, Chief Collector-North Custom House Islamabad, Director General of Internal Audit (Customs) Islamabad, Director General Training and Research (Customs) Karachi/Islamabad and Director General Directorate General of Transit Trade Custom House Karachi seeking nomination of the customs officers for the scholarship.

The above mentioned offices have been instructed to submit the dully filled forms of those interested to the Board by August 10, 2015 positively.
