KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has stepped up efforts to recover Rs26 billion in outstanding taxes from Bahria Town. It has issued a public notice on the matter.
The tax regulator had seized the Bahria Town Tower in Karachi on October 7 after conducting raids and taking custody of relevant records. The seized assets include 145 residential units, 42 offices, and 103 shops located in the tower.
The tax authority has imposed a ban on the sale, transfer, or disposal of the seized properties without prior permission from it.
FBR said that any objections or claims related to the seized assets may be submitted to the Large Taxpayer Office (LTO) in Islamabad in accordance with the law.
The move is part of the tax authority’s fresh efforts to enforce compliance and recover outstanding dues from large taxpayers.
