FBR seizes smuggled cigarettes, gutka worth Rs 2.5m in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue has seized huge cache of illegal cigarettes and Indian ghutka worth Rs 2.5 million during a raid in Hyderabad.

Regional Tax Office’s Additional Commissioner Shamim Murtaza led a team consisting of two Assistant Commissioners and other officials and raided a godown in Hyderabad’s Tower Market. The team recovered huge cache of illegal cigarettes including Pine, Benson Hedges and other cigarettes and Indian ghutka. Shamim said that the raid was conducted on secret information and the value of recovered illegal cigarettes and Indian gutka is between Rs 2 million to Rs 2.5 million.
