FBR sends notices to 192 cops; seeks tax details

LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued preliminary notices to 192 police officers for filing their income tax returns. The FBR also seeks tax details from the grade 19 to 21 officers.

The Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) issued these notices on Friday which helped the authorities to receive over one million income tax returns for specific tax period.

The officers also served notices include Additional Inspector General (AIG), Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Superintendent of Police (SP).

The names of officers sent notices are Additional IG Naseem-uz-Zaman, Additional IG Dr. Arif Mushtaq, DIG BA Nasir, DIG Salman Chaudhary, DIG Saad Akhter, DIG Amir Zulfiqar, DIG Umer Akhter Lalika, DIG Ahmed Ishaq Jahingir, DIG Muhammad Azeem Khan, DIG Muhammad Nawaz Waraich, and DIG Azhar Habib Khokhar.

Other high ranking officers served notices include SSP Muhammad Ahsan Younis, SSP Shahzad Sultan, SSP Kamran Adil, SSP Ahmed Arslan Malik, SSP Muhammad Waqar Abbasi, SP Muntazir Mehdi, SP Yasmeen Bashir and others.

The FBR informed police officers to submit their reply and tax details till 24th of April. Source added that if any officer fails to submit answer then FBR will take action under the law and recover the tax from the said police officer.
