LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started issuing warning to traders of Azam Market, Anarkali, Hall Road, Sutar Mandi, Akbari Mandi, and other areas in Lahore over non-payment of tax.

Reports said the lists of tax-evading companies and individuals have been completed as the government aims at making it impossible for non-taxpayers to conduct business or purchase vehicles and homes in the future.

The top tax authority has intensified operations in all major cities, including Lahore. Reports said that the lists of tax-evading companies and individuals are ready, and all relevant commissioners will issue notices regarding tax irregularities.

For the first time in history, FIRs were registered and arrests were made by the FBR, which is taking measures to make it impossible to avoid filing tax returns or concealing taxes.

FBR officials stressed that tax payment by the citizens of Pakistan is vital for the survival of the country. They said chief financial officers (CFOs) and owners of businesses will be questioned by the FBR officials.
