FBR starts probe againt 241 corrupt officials

LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started action against 241 Customs officers on the allegations of corruption.

Sources told Customs Today that some businessmen had informed the FBR about the corrupt officials and demanded action against them. After receiving such complaints, the FBR started inquiries against the officials.

Sources said that as a result of these inquiries, no evidence was found against 33 officials, warning issued to 12 officials, 39 officials were awarded different sentences, while inquiries against 157 officials are still in process. Sources said that the federal government has also sought details about the officials who found involved in corruption.
