KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started gathering information about people who travel abroad frequently and buy property and cars to collect more taxes.
According to FBR officials, in the current fiscal year notice had been issued to 140,000 tax defaulters. As many as 20,000 people have submitted income tax returns. Action is being taken against those who did not submit income tax returns. On the other hand, to ensure collection of sales tax a scheme is being introduced for retailers. Under this scheme 25,000 big and 1.3 million small retailers have been selected. Sources said the tax form is being made easy to facilitate the taxpayers.
