FBR team to attend ECO seminar on tax issues in Baku

ISLAMABAD: A two-member delegation of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will attend the regional seminar on Taxpayers’ Services in Baku, Azerbaijan next month.

The seminar is being held on November 6-7 under the auspicious of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to discuss means and option for provision of further facilitations to tax payers.

This seminar was scheduled to be held last year, however, the ECO Secretariat postponed it on the request of the host country. Azerbaijan was also the host of the seminar last year.

Well placed source at FBR told this scribe that the two-member delegation comprised Chief Income Tax Policy Malik Ajmad Zubari Tiwana and Bakhtiar Muhammad Chief Facilitating and Taxpayers Education (FATE).

The source further said that this time the FBR administration had selected very right people for right job because both the officers had immense and vast experience in the related subject.

The source said that agenda for the seminar was to deliberate on ways to further improve quality and quantity of services to tax payers including facilitation, awareness, filling tax returns and others.

The source further said that participants of the seminar would try to learn from each others’ experience and expertise in the relevant field. “Besides the representatives from the ECO member countries, there is chance that international monetary organizations will also send their representatives to the seminar” the source added.
