FBR to collect Rs28.26 billion tax arrears

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue’s Directorate General of Withholding Taxes has intensified its efforts to recover a huge amount of Rs28.26 billion as tax arrears for the month of May 2015.

Sources said that the tax authority has also issued directives to all the Chief Commissioners of Large Taxpayer Units (LTUs) and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) to collect the outstanding amount. As per details, the income tax current demand amounted to Rs 27.018 billion, sales tax demand is Rs 1.243 billion and total demands are standing at Rs 28.261 billion. WHT Director General Shaukat Mahmood has issued instructions to his team to recover the due amount of arrears to achieve the tax collection target.
