FBR to conclude 11 unresolved audit cases to enhance revenue collection

ISLAMABAD:  Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to act in 11 long unresolved audit cases involving revenue loss of Rs27.3 billion it is learnt here.

Official sources told Customs Today that director general Customs Audit in a meeting highlighted the impending revenue loss and sought collectors to act in 11 long unsettled audit cases having revenue loss of Rs27.3 billion also the director general customs audit requested tax regulator members and chairman FBR to intercede and ensure recovery of due taxes.

Sources also told that on the other side the tax regulator didn’t instruct them to file these cases with FBR’s adjudication courts but requested the collectors to follow its clarifications in this regard to recover the revenue.

Furthermore sources told that Collectors of Customs Collectorate Gwadar, Appraisement Lahore, Preventive Lahore and Customs Peshawar have four cases involving tax evasion/duty of Rs22.5 billion and collectors of Customs Collectorate Appraisement (West) Karachi, Port Qasim Karachi, Customs Peshawar, Faisalabad, Appraisement East Karachi and MCC Islamabad have seven cases of amounts to Rs4.75 billion. The Director General Customs audit directed FBR to settle the pending cases sources added.
