ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to issue notices to 55,000 tax defaulters. In another move, the FBR has decided to take stern action against 22,000 tax defaulters.

Sources told Customs Today that action will also be taken against those who are availing handsome income but are not paying taxes. Notices will be issued to all of them during the coming week.

Sources further revealed that in the first phase a specified period will be given to tax defaulters to clear the outstanding dues. If they will fail to avail the grace period then stern legal action will be taken against those tax defaulters.

These sources said that action was halted due to holy month of Ramazan, while authorities complete the required data of all tax defaulters during this period. Sources disclose that FBR is trying to tight its rope around tax defaulters.

FBR already gears up to start process against defaulters in the beginning of new fiscal year as these measures enable them to meet the required financial target in the end of current fiscal year.
