FBR to start audit of 77,000 taxpayers in just 4 days

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is going to start audit of 77,000 taxpayers, selected via lucky draw, in next three to four days.

Sources in FBR told Customs Today that FBR has selected these taxpayers randomly via lucky draw during a meeting, presided by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and sent these lists to field formations. These lists also include some electronic and other supportive material about non-taxpayers.

“FBR had completed audit of 40,000 taxpayers selected in fiscal year 2013 for audit of 2012 tax payments. FBR issued demand notices worth Rs 17 billion in last year audit which was completed 90 percent. This year 1,900 taxpayers from cooperate sector and 30500 from non-cooperate will be audited in next few days,” they added.
