FBR to start awareness campaign for beneficiaries of Tax Amnesty Scheme 2018

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to start an awareness campaign for the beneficiaries of Tax Amnesty Scheme 2018 in order to exhale their fear of action against them, it is learnt here.

Official sources told Customs Today that the board in this regard has prepared a clarification memorandum which is pending for approval and the campaign will be started soon.

Sources told that as Inland Revenue officers have no access to amnesty declarations so if the taxpayers who got advantage from the Tax Amnesty Scheme 2018 and declared their assets, and now if they received any notice from field formations, the taxpayers need to respond to the notice properly and provide the details of their Amnesty Scheme declaration forms.

Meanwhile, according to the said memorandum the field formations and inland revenue officers are required to reconfirm the declaration and evidence provided by the taxpayers, sources confirmed.

Sources told that the board has taken this step with the aim to eliminate the fear from the taxpayers who declared their assets through Tax Amnesty Scheme 2018; however, they are receiving tax notice from the Inland Revenue officers. The board will widely start the awareness campaign soon after the clarification draft is approved by the competent authority.
