FBR to take action against 300 govt employees involved in hiding assets & properties

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) decided to take stern action against those government employees who didn’t declared their assets and properties in their tax returns, it is learnt here.

Official sources told Customs Today that FBR has sent notices to at least 300 government employees in the first phase and directed them to provide complete details of their assets and properties. In the notices. the board has clarified them to provide their assets and properties details on their own names while also directed them to also provide details of their family assets and properties as well, sources added.

Sources further added that FBR has sent notice to employees of PTCL, all training institutions, Punjab University, Irrigation, LESCO, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) and Pakistan Railways.

FBR has also clarified in its notices that if the government employees failed to provide required details within due date, the board will take stern action as per the government law.

It is also to highlight here that the board has prepared a list of government departments for the second phase and will send notices in coming weeks to ask them to provide their complete details of assets and properties, sources added.
