FBR trying to bring back illegal money from Swiss banks: Tariq Bajwa

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Tariq Bajwa has said that his department is trying its best to bring back the illegal money from Swiss banks but still it is not succeeded in getting required information from Swiss authorities.

Sources told Customs Today that the FBR Chairman said that the department had asked the Swiss authorities to provide names of the persons who operated their accounts in Swiss banks. He also said that no amnesty scheme is on the cards. Tariq Bajwa said: “We experimented amnesty schemes many times in the past. During the first amnesty we succeeded in collecting Rs 10 billion, during second amnesty we collected Rs 8 billion while during third amnesty we collected only Rs 2 billion.”
