LAHORE: Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) demanded of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to revamp and modernize its tax dispute resolution mechanism in consultation with business community.
Talking to media persons, the PIAF Chairman Irfan Iqbal Sheikh welcomed the FBR’s initiative of seeking proposals from business community.
He was of the view that shortcomings and lacunas in tax collection system could be rectified but only with the support and consultation of the private sector.
The PIAF Chairman complained that industrialists and traders were left with no other option but to contact the court of law for settlement of their tax disputes with the FBR, adding that this practice also waste their trading time as they could not focus on their businesses and productions. He urged the Board to effective measures for hassle-free settlement of disputes of the tax payers.
Irfan Iqbal Sheikh claimed that private sector was playing an active role to create eases for the business doing people as well as expediting the economic growth rate of the country.
The PIAF Chairman also called upon the business community to must give their input to the FBR regarding General Sales Tax, Federal Excise Duty, Property Tax, SRO 608 and all related issues so as to improve the tax collection system.
