FBR urged to restore IRIS Form 181 after suspension disrupts taxpayer services

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) has called on the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to immediately restore the “Change in Particulars” facility (Form 181) on the IRIS portal for sales tax registered persons, warning that its suspension is creating serious compliance and operational difficulties for taxpayers across Pakistan.

In a letter addressed to Member Inland Revenue (Operations), the PTBA stated that the unavailability of Form 181 has prevented registered taxpayers from updating essential business information through the IRIS system. The disruption has affected routine business operations and made it difficult for taxpayers to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

According to the association, businesses frequently need to update registration details such as business particulars, addresses, contact information, and other mandatory records. However, with the Form 181 facility currently unavailable, taxpayers are unable to make these necessary amendments, causing unnecessary delays and administrative hurdles.

The PTBA emphasized that the suspension of this critical IRIS feature is creating avoidable hardship for genuine taxpayers who wish to remain compliant with FBR regulations. It noted that timely updates to registration information are an important part of maintaining accurate tax records and ensuring smooth interaction with the tax authorities.

The association has urged the FBR to restore the Change in Particulars (Form 181) facility without further delay, stating that the move would facilitate taxpayers, improve the efficiency of business operations, and strengthen voluntary tax compliance.

Tax professionals have also stressed that uninterrupted access to essential IRIS services is crucial, particularly during the ongoing tax filing season when taxpayers regularly need to update their registration details before filing returns and meeting other statutory obligations.
