FBR urged to take security measures: Non-trained staff securing revenue departments

ISLAMABAD: Due to not having a proper security force, Customs’ inspectors and other lower employees are performing security duties at Federal Board of Revenue headquarter, Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad, Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation, dry port and at other relevant offices.

As per detail, FBR has not recruited any security staff for last 22 years due the imposition of ban on jobs, while the security staff, deputed at various departments is aged or about to retire hence the FBR and its field formation offices have assigned the task of security to customs’ inspector and other lower staff those are not trained for security duties.

Talking to Customs Today employees said that security of revenue departments was in the hands of non-professionals as they could not tackle any emergency situation. They suggested that department should appoint the efficient security staff or hire the services of private security company to save the lives of employees and important revenue record.
