FBR, TAGR to establish data centre to expand tax net

ISLAMABAD:  Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has planned to establish a state-of-the-art data centre to expand the tax net, it is learnt here.

According to official sources, FBR will establish this data centre with collaboration of Trust Fund for Accelerating Growth and Reforms (TAGR). The board has decided to buy computer and other machinery system for the data centre.

Meanwhile, FBR also conducted pre-bid conference in its headquarters in this regard where at least 94 companies participated to purpose bid.

Sources also said that FBR will receive expression of interest for the establishment of data centre in FBR headquarters till July 18, 2018, while the board has already completed it working, and the board will make it mandatory for provincial registrar and other concerns departments to submit the required documents to FBR after transfer of property in the province, sources added.

It is important to mention here that Trust Fund for Accelerating Growth and Reforms (TAGR) is a project initiated by World Bank to support Pakistan’s reform program contributed to increase taxpayer registration and payment, raising tax revenues from 11 percent of GDP in 2014 to 13 percent of GDP in 2016.
