FBR’s 13 new BTBs to start functioning soon

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has planned to open 13 new broadening tax base (BTB) formations in four provinces.

In the 1st phase of BTB restructuring plan, BTB Zones have already been operationalised at Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.

Now in the 2nd phase, 6 BTB Zones at Hyderabad, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi & Peshawar and in the 3rd phase 07 BTB formations at Sukkur, Quetta, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Sialkot & Abbottabad have been envisaged.

Federal Board of Revenue has made the strategy that high value and live cases of regular income will be captured with the help of technology and strengthened with third party data.

New BTB formation officers will visit field for identification of “high value unregistered taxpayers” and ensure filing of regular returns with matching additional revenue. First returns and assessments will be enforced and finalized with consent of taxpayers.
