SARGODHA: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Sargodha office’s annual revenue collected has surged by Rs 1 billion to Rs 7 billion last year.
According to the Board’s spokesman, the regional office has taken effective measures for collection of tax from the industrialists, businessmen, marriage halls, hotels, stone crushing industry, land owners, agriculturists etc.
Talking to APP, the FBR official said that Rs 7 billion were collected as taxes last year, adding that the targets were also achieved a month before the given time frame. He added that new people have been added to the tax net who are giving annual Rs 1 billion tax. He said that hospitals and educational institutes are also being taken into tax net and in this regard notices have also been served to owners of these businesses.
To a question about non-filers, he said that regional tax office has been issuing notices to all defaulters or they would be investigated by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Recently, FBR has started a campaign ‘Volunteer Tax Pay Scheme’ for traders through which sufficient amount would be received from the traders, he said, adding that awareness campaign has been launched in the educational institutes to motivate people for payment of taxes.
