ISLAMABAD: Thirty seven employees of grade 14 working in Rawalpindi and Islamabad Regional Tax Offices of Federal Board of Revenue have challenged in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) the recently announced departmental promotional examination for posts of Inspectors in grade 16.

They have requested the court to issue stay order till decision of the court. If the court gives stay order on next date of hearing, the FBR will not be able to hold departmental examination for inspectors. Secretary Revenue Division, Chairman FBR and other officers concerned have been made party in the petition. The court has issued notices to all the parties and sought reply within one week. These employees had passed the previous departmental examination for post of inspectors but their names were put in the waiting list due to less number of vacancies for the inspector rank. The FBR had assured them that they would be promoted first when vacancies of inspectors are created.  But now the FBR has announced departmental promotion examination for new and vacant posts of inspectors. The grade 14 employees have the stance that vacancies are in large number this time and they should be promoted first since they have already cleared the previous departmental examination. These employees include UDCs, Stenos and supervisors. Out of 37 employees who have filed the writ, 22 belong to Islamabad RTO and 15 belong to Rawalpindi RTO.
