FBR’s Member (Org. Audit) retires after distinguished service

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Member (Org. Audit) Imtiaz Ali Solangi, has retired from government service after an illustrious career spanning over 31 years.

A special Board-in-Council meeting was held to acknowledge and commemorate his valuable contributions to the Government of Pakistan and the FBR, said a news release on Friday.

Throughout his career, Solangi served with exceptional dedication and professionalism. Having joined the Inland Revenue Service, he accumulated vast experience in tax administration, public policy, and financial management across various key assignments.

Over the years, he held several important positions including Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Medium Taxpayer Office Karachi; Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Regional Tax Office Sargodha; Member Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue Karachi; and Commissioner Inland Revenue at Karachi and Islamabad.

He is a Fulbright Scholar and holds a Master’s degree in International Economics & Finance from Brandeis University, USA.

Solangi also holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, a Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics) from Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, and a Bachelor of Law from SM Law College, Karachi.

He attended various local and internal courses which include courses at Harvard Kennedy Government, MA, USA, Korean Tax Policy Institute Seoul, Korea and The Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) Beijing, China.

During his career, Solangi made significant contributions in the areas of tax policy, anti-money laundering framework, and public sector reforms.

He was a member of the taskforce that prepared the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Rules, 2019, and contributed to the formulation of budget proposals for multiple fiscal years. He also played a key role in institutional reforms under the World Bank-supported Tax Administration Reform Program.

On the occasion, Chairman FBR Rashid Mahmood Langrial, along with Board Members, commended Solangi contributions and wished him success in his future endeavours.

The chairman presented a commemorative shield to the retiring officer in recognition of his distinguished services.
