FC officer impounds Pak-Afghan currencies & vehicle valued Rs10.322m

ISLAMABAD: Using the powers of Pakistan Customs under the Customs Act 1969, Anti-Smuggling Officer of Headquarters Frontier Corps Major Taimoor Sultan, Qila Balahisar, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Peshawar, has impounded a vehicle and Pakistani and Afghan currencies of Rs10.322million.

The anti-smuggling officer received a tip-off that Pakistani currency would be smuggled into Afghanistan on the Toyota pickup with registration No: PAG-493. The officer intercepted the said vehicle at Kurram Malaisha, Arawali Checkpost. Upon a search, he found Pak and Afghan currencies. The smugglers, identified Muhibullah son of Umar Khan and Zari Gul son of Umar Khan, concealed the currencies in the spare wheel of Toyota pickup No: PAG-493 modelled 1993.

Prior to the recovery, the FC authorities demanded the legal documents of the import of the vehicle and currencies from both alleged smugglers but they failed to produce anything. So the FC impounded the vehicle and currencies under section 168 of the Customs Act-1969. The FC authorities submitted a seizure report to the adjudication.
