FCCI standing committees playing pivotal role in overall working: Mian Idrees

FAISALABAD: Standing Committees of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) are playing pivotal role in overall working and policy making of the chamber.

This was said by former President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Mian Muhammad Idrees.

He said that the chairmen of all standing committees must be fully aware of the objectives and TOR of their respective committees to make these productive and result oriented.

Addressing the first introductory meeting of standing committees of the FCCI here Thursday, he said that the committees have to play a dynamic and proactive role regarding their specific sector and they must focus on each and every problem of their sector in addition to proposing viable solutions to their issues.

He said that these committees will assist about the issues of their sector specific issues so that, president along with its office bearers and executive could take up their relevant issues with the concerned authorities.

However, he clarified that chairmen of these committees are not authorized to make direct correspondence as it will create mess within this organization that has to handle 92 different standing committees.

He also stressed upon the chairmen of the standing committees to increase the overall membership of FCCI. Regarding foreign delegation committee, he asked Engineer Sohail Bin Rashid to carve out a comprehensive program to send abroad trade delegations to different potential markets. In this connection he should also avail facilities offered by TDAP (Trade Development Authority Pakistan) that was already sending delegations and helping exporters to set up their stalls in different international exhibitions at subsidized rates.

On the recommendations of different Chairmen, he asked President Shabbir Hussain Chawla and Secretary General Abid Masood to invite different ministers and high government officials who are related to their sector specific problems and issues.

Earlier President FCCI Shabbir Hussain Chawla told that this is the first formal introductory meeting of standing committees of the FCCI. He said that standing committees have been divided into two groups. Each group will be supervised by Senior Vice President Sheikh Farooq Yousaf and Vice President Usman Rauf, he added.

He further said that the role of the Standing Committees is of consultative in nature and they must give their sector specific input to the president FCCI to bring a qualitative improvement in the overall performance of this apex trade body.

Earlier Chairmen of different Standing Committees gave their brief introduction in addition to highlighting the issues, problems and performance of their respective committees.

Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz, Aslam Bhalli, Jawad Asghar, Ajmal Farooq, Mian Tanveer Ahmed, Gulzar Ahmed, Muhammad Afzal Mughal, Abid Zahid, Yaqoob Awan, Engineer Asim Muneer, Engineer Ahmed Hassan and others were also present during this meeting.
