Federal government to establish Dry port in Sargodha District to boost kinnow export

SARGODHA: Federal Parliamentary Secretary,Barrister  Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha said Dry Port project was vitally needed in the district for increasing exports of Kinnow and other products.

Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting was chairing a meeting of the stakeholders here on Wednesday.

Mohsin Ranjha said according to an estimate 6000 containers of Kinnow could be exported from the dry port annually, adding that for acquisition of 10 acres land for Dry Port at Bhalwal road the federal government has approached the district administration.

The meeting was apprised that setting up of dry port in the region was extremely important for the development of the area.

The meeting was informed that Kinnow orchards covered an area of 2,52,000 acres and 1 million ton annual production was expected.
