ISLAMABAD: The central government has decided to give huge subsidy to Punjab Metro Bus Authority (PMBA) to keep this Rs44.2 billion project operational, even more than its revenue.
As per a planned subsidy formula, the federal government will pay Rs1.2 billion, while Punjab government Rs0.8 billion annually to the metro authority.
According to Newspeak, a design consultant of the project, 139,000 passengers will commute daily between the twin cities – 75,000 from Rawalpindi and 64,000 from Islamabad, while out of the total length of the metro corridor, 8.5km falls in Rawalpindi, having 10 stations and 13.9km in Islamabad with 14 stations.
