Federal ombudsman urged to release big city allowance

MULTAN: The Federal Revenue Alliance has submitted an application to the federal ombudsman for the release of big city allowance.

Federal Revenue Alliance Central Deputy Secretary Tahir Khakwani addressed the employees of the Regional Tax Office, where he said that the staff had been waiting for the big city allowance since its announcement, but all the government promises and announcements were nothing more than mere words for taking sympathy of the people.

Tahir Khawkani said that the Federal Revenue Alliance had for long been demanding big city allowance for the Regional Tax Office staff according to their pay scale.

He added that as per the announcement, there would have been an addition of Rs 2,260 in the salaries of employees working in BS-1 and BS-2; Rs 3,310 in salaries of staff in BS-3 to BS-6; Rs 5,035 in scales of BS-7 to BS-10 and Rs 7,360 in scales of BS-11 to BS-13.

Moreover, he said that would have been an increase of Rs 9,305 in salaries of staff working in BS-14 to BS-16; Rs 12,310 for scales BS-17 and BS-18; Rs 16,055 for BS-19, Rs 20,260 for BS-20, Rs 24,385 for BS-21 and Rs 30,600 for the employees working in BS-22.

He hoped that the federal ombudsman would take action on its application for the implementation of big city allowance, and will direct the Punjab government to immediately release big city allowance increment from the day of notification.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had declared Multan as a big city on June 5 during his visit to the Multan, but since the announcement, big city allowance for the employees has not been released.
