Federal Service Tribunal rejects FBR’s plea for time to submit record of promotion cases

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Service Tribunal on Monday rejected a plea by the Federal Board of Revenue, seeking time to submit record on cases of implementation and promotion filed by employees of the board.

The division benches of the FST comprising Ishtiaq Ahmed and Dr Nazir Saeed; and Member Rafique Shah and Dr Nazir heard the cases filed by employees of the Federal Board of Revenue.

A division bench of the FST comprising Members, Ishtiaq Ahmed and Dr Nazir Saeed heard the cases about promotion. The bench directed the counsels to assist the bench on the cases with provision of further details of cases. The bench asked the sides to present the detailed archival record on the cases.

Inam ul Haq, Muhammad Moosa Jamali, Inayatullah Khattak, Dost Muhammad, Ajmal Khan, Muhammad Haroon Khattak and Wasat ullah Jaffari had filed the complaints.

As the arguments resumed, counsels from responding side sought more time. Upon this the bench rejected board’s plea and directed the counsels to submit related record at the earliest.

Member Rafique Shah and Dr Nazir heard five complaints carrying matter about ‘promotion’. Ghulam Akbar Chandio, Sohail Ahmed Qureshi, Sajjad Ahmed, Saleem Akbar and Ch Muhammad Aslam had filed these cases.

They had filed cases challenging administrative measures taken by the board regarding promotion of appellants. The appellants asked the tribunal to take notice of undue delay regarding their promotion by the board and issue necessary directives to the board in their cases.
