FIA arrests woman deported from Italy at Lahore airport

LAHORE: FIA immigration authorities at Lahore airport arrested a woman deported from Italy trying to enter Europe on fake travel documents.

An FIA officer said that during immigration process of flight No.EY-241 a female deportee Waheeda Kausar was handed over to FIA by Etihad Airline staff along with check sheet. The accused passenger was deported from Italy due to fake Schengen visa sticker.

During preliminary interrogation, she disclosed that she intended to go to Germany as her son Hafiz Qasid Ahmed resides there. In this regard, her other son Hafiz Ather Mahmood contacted an agent Malik Shani in Lahore and deal was done in Rs2 million. Plan was that initially he will send her to Dubai on a visit visa and from Dubai he will get a Schengen visa for Germany. Initially, an amount of Rs250,000 was paid to his two sub agents Yousaf and Atif Shah in advance on behalf of Malik Shani.

On March 12, another sub agent of Malik Shani Munawar gave her a visit visa for Dubai along with return ticket for Dubai of Flight No.PK-203 for the same day at Lahore Airport and attached a person namely Ibrar for Dubai. Ibrar helped her out till Dubai arrival. She and Ibrar travelled from Lahore Airport to Dubai on the basis of Pakistani Passports. The accused further disclosed that another sub agent Taimur received them at Dubai Airport and took a local hotel where he received an amount of UAE-Dirham 25,000 on behalf of agent Malik Shani along with her Pakistani passport for the issuance of Schengen visa.
