FIA assistant director held for molesting foreigner at Islamabad airport

ISLAMABAD: An assistant director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was arrested on the charge of harassing foreigners at the Islamabad airport after Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar took notice of the issue.

As per details, two Afghan women were stopped by FIA officials after they arrived at the Benazir International Airport in Islamabad for not having the documents to stay in a hotel.

The women alleged that they were kept in a room for around five hours after which one of them was sent outside. Later, the accused entered the room and attempted to assault the woman in the room but she managed to flee from the scene after raising an alarm.

The woman further stated in her application that other FIA personnel were also present during the incident.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar took notice of the incident and ordered the suspension of FIA Assistant Director Immigration Akram Ali Shad and launched an investigation into the incident.
