ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday barred Punjab Assembly lawmaker Hamza Shahbaz from travelling abroad. Hamza Shahbaz was travelling to Doha via Qatar Airlines flight 620. The FIA sources have confirmed that Hamza was offloaded at the airport.

The FIA placed Hamza’s name in the Exit Control List (ECL) upon the request of National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Reacting to this, Hamza said that he was going London to meet his brother. He said that he got to know that he was blacklisted only when he reached the emigration counter.

He said that he is not wanted in the NAB inquiry. Hamza Shahbaz was granted pre-arrest bail after he filed bail petitions in the Lahore High Court saying the NAB had initiated three inquiries against him including Punjab Saaf Pani Company, Ramzan Sugar Mills and assets beyond means.

He had questioned the jurisdiction of the anti-graft watchdog to probe the matters and submitted that he had been appearing before the NAB investigation teams and providing them with all the required information and document.
