FIA cyber-crime registers first FIR against anti-state elements

LAHORE: The National Response  Centre of cyber crime Punjab chapter of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has first ever registered a case against the anti-state elements on the charges of launching a derogatory/ defamatory/ slanderous campaign against the Pakistan armed forces (National Security institutions) through digital/ social media under relevant sections of existing cyber crime laws i.e. Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

According to the FIR No 19/2018 dated 30.12.2018, Obaid son of Rashid Mehmood who is a resident of Sialkot filed a complaint in Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in which he complained that he is frequent user of social media and using his Facebook account regularly.

He further stated that one Allama Saifullah Noori whose link is www.facebook.com/profile.php/id00004938196267 is using his account to spread hatred against the chief of the army staff, armed forces and other law enforcement agencies of our county. He is also involved in encouraging uprising in the country.

In his complaint he appealed the FIA to investigate and and block his social media account on priority basis. Federal Investigation Agency after registering a FIR started investigations.
