FIA gets physical remand of suspect involved in currency smuggling case

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has obtained a three-day physical remand of a suspect who tried to smuggle about Rs 130 million from Lahore to Dubai.

According to details, Zeeshan Naseer Butt son of Naseeruddin Butt, was set to board flight EK623 to Dubai from Allama Iqbal International Airport when the FIA officials arrested him after checking his luggage.

 According to the officials, Zeeshan managed to reach the departure lounge after clearance from the Airport Security Force (ASF) and the Custom and Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) counters.

“The FIA officers successfully arrested the suspect and recovered a large sum of foreign currency, including, €1,454,000, Dhs1,591,000, $10,000 and £2,500,” he added. When converted, the amount adds up to about Rs 130 million.

 The suspect was arrested and sent to FIA corporate crime circle for further investigations where they produced him before the court and got physical remand to dig out real characters behind the smuggling scam.

Sources also told Customs Today that the arrested person is a carrier of some influential person of Lahore and soon they will reach him.
