FIA officials suspended for maltreating female passengers: Senate told

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Interior Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman Wednesday apprised the Senate that two officials of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) were suspended for maltreating female passengers at Benazir Bhutto International Airport and besides ordering high level inquiry into the incident.

Responding to a Calling Attention Notice moved by Nehal Hashmi and others regarding the altreatment of a female PIA passenger, her sister and daughters while travelling to Oslo, Norway by a lady officer of FIA and staff, he said Ghazala Bibi and Shift In-charge were suspended. The minister said soon after the incident Interior Minister, Nisar Ali Khan took serious note of the incident and sought inquiry into it.  He said report of the inquiry was received but the minister was not satisfied and ordered another inquiry.

The report of the second inquiry would be finalized by Friday, he added.  He said that the passengers were traveling through the Turkish Airline to Oslo (Norway).

The minister said DG FIA was looking to the matter and he also approached the family so their statements could be recorded.
