FIA raids 3 spice factories, 3 arrested, spices in bulk recovered

MULTAN: Separate teams of FIA Multan raided three spice factories and recovered spices packed in packing of a popular brand in violation of copyright law at Gaggu Mandi, Burewala.

FIA also arrested three accused from the factories, all owners of their respective units, including Sarfraz Ali, Muhammad Asif and Abdul Razzaq, officials said.

Complainant Javed Iqbal, an official of a spices company, had filed complaint that some persons were running factories preparing spices and selling these in the packing of their popular brand in the market.

Three FIA teams, one led by inspector Ansar Abbas, the other led by sub inspector Asif, and third team led sub inspector Ghulam Abbas, conducted raids simultaneously on three spice factories and recovered spices in packing of popular brand in bulk quantity.

Separate FIRs 48/2018, 49/2018 and 50/2018 were registered. All FIRs were registered under same provisions of law including 66-67 CRO 1962 R/W 420, 468, 471 PPC, officials said.
