LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has re-launched criminal probe into the Pakistan Super League spot-fixing case, sources said on Wednesday.

The FIA resumed the investigation after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) imposed a ban on Khalid Latif (five years) and Sharjeel Khan (five years) for their role in the spot-fixing scam.

Four other players – Mohammad Irfan, Shahzaib Hasan, Nasir Jamshed and Mohammad Nawaz – were also included in the PCB’s investigation on multiple charges.

Irfan and Nawaz admitted not reporting the bookie´s offer. Irfan was banned for one year with six months suspended, while Nawaz was banned for two months, with one suspended, along with fines.

According to sources, the FIA has obtained the records of the banned cricketers from PCB, including data from the players’ laptops and mobile phones.

The PCB has also reportedly handed over copies of its verdicts in Sharjeel and Latif’s cases to the FIA.

The investigative body has already carried out forensic review of the laptops and mobile phones in question.

According to FIA sources, appropriate action will be taken in light of the verdict for Shahzaib Hasan.
