COLOMBO: Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake says the Government is keen to lift public tax burden while accumulating revenue and will remove the taxes imposed as soon as possible.
“The government doesn’t intend to sell any assets owned by the government, but according to the agreements to be signed by the government, we will develop such institutes together with the private sector,” the Minister said at a media briefing yesterday.
“This will help the government to get some money and utilize that to settle debts and use the balance for development work as well,” he explained.
Speaking further, the Minister requested the media to disseminate news responsibly when it comes to national issues and not to mislead the public with misinformation.
