There are three candidates vying for the permanent chairmanship of the SECP which include SECP Commissioner, Shozib Ali, Farakh Sabzwari and Aamir Ali.

According to sources, Shozib Ali, spouse of PTI MNA, Kanwal Shozib, is also being termed favourite for the slot while prominent businessman of Karachi, Aqeel Karim Dhady wishes that Farakh Sabzwari may become next chairman of SECP.

In this connection, Aqeel Karim Dhady has also started contacts with important personalities of the government.

However, prominent PTI leaders are said to be lobbying for Shozib Ali.

Sources said that prime minister Imran Khan will choose a name among the three candidates who will become Chairman and will start his responsibilities as Chairman.

The chairman post was vacated in October this year when Shaukat Hussain had resigned.
