Finland rents of residential house increase 3% in 2015

HELSINKI: Rents of residential dwellings increased by an average of 3.0 per cent in 2015 from the year before, according to Statistics Finland. Rents of non-subsidised rental dwellings increased as well in the whole country, by an average of 3.6 per cent.

The rents of non-subsidised rental dwellings went up by 4.0 per cent in Greater Helsinki and by 3.3 per cent in the rest of Finland. The rents of government-subsidised rental dwellings increased by 2.3 per cent in the whole country, the data show.

The average rent per square metre of non-subsidised rental dwellings was EUR 13.30 per square metre in the whole country. The average rent per square metre for non-subsidised rental dwellings was EUR 17.49 per square metre in Greater Helsinki and EUR 11.28 per square metre in the rest of Finland.

The average rent per square metre of government-subsidised rental dwellings was EUR 11.21 per square metre in the whole country. It stood at EUR 12.31 in Greater Helsinki and at EUR 10.63 per square metre in the rest of Finland.

In Helsinki, the rents of non-subsidised rental dwellings increased by 4.2 per cent, in Espoo by 2.9 and in Vantaa by 3.8 per cent. In Tampere rents increased by 2.7, in Jyväskylä by 4,3 per cent, in Turku by 3.2 per cent.

In Lahti, rents increased by 2.2 per cent, in Oulu by 2.8 per cent and in Kuopio by 2.7 per cent as per the data derived from Statistics Finland’s annual statistics on the rents of dwellings. The statistics on rents of dwellings include some 268,000 rental dwellings.
