HELSINKI: Finland’s Konecranes Company reported further order from the port of Houston authority for nine of its (RTG) cranes and ordered will be delivered in mid 2016. The 16-wheel RTGs with a lifting capacity of 40 tonnes are new cranes for the Houston. “The cranes capable of a container stacking height of 1 over 5 with a stacking width of six plus truck lanes wide” said company.
The Port of Houston Authority is the largest container port in the Gulf of Mexico. It is responsible for eight cargo terminals and one cruise terminal along the Houston Ship Channel, and in 2014, its terminals handled more than 37 million tons of cargo. Konecranes delivered its first RTGs to the Port Authority in 2003.
The new units will be equipped with Konecranes’ Active Load Control system, which prevents container sway and improves container-handling performance. The smarter cabin, LED lights and a laser-based gantry anti-collision system complete the package of included features.
