HELSINKI: One of the world’s largest zinc mines, Red Dog has a power plant with eight Wärtsilä generator sets. innish power plant solutions and services supplier Wärtsilä has signed a five-year contract with Teck Alaska Incorporated (Teck). The agreement involves maintenance work to be completed on Teck’s power plant at the Red Dog mine in Northwest Alaska.
The plant currently has eight Wärtsilä generator sets with a combined output of 42 MW. We wanted a partner that can offer a broad range of high-quality services while meeting our high safety standards,” says Ken Ahrens, maintenance general foreman at Red Dog Operations. “This includes training our crew and providing ongoing maintenance and support services to our mine. We are impressed by Wärtsilä’s high level of commitment to offering customised solutions that address our specific needs.”
